Itinerary for the 5 Day Glamping tents in Greater Kruger or Sabi Sand
Day 1: Johannesburg to Sabi Sand – Greater Kruger Park
This adventure-filled 5-day Kruger Park and Sabi Sand Glamping Tents Safari starts with collection from the Johannesburg International Airport, or hotels close to the airport, central Santon or in Nelspruit / Skukuza Airport.
Pick-up will be between 7h00 AM and 8h30 AM at O.R Tambo or any hotels near the airport as well as central Santon and for pick-up at Nelspruit Airport it will be at 12h00 PM. Please do ensure that your local flight to Nelspruit Airport lands at 11h30 AM and 9h00 AM for international flights so that you will be on time for pick-up.
We leave the vibrant city of Johannesburg, travelling northeast to the renowned Greater Kruger in an air-conditioned and safe vehicle.
Our journey takes us to the Glamping Tents, located just outside the famous Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve.
Recline a while after check-in, before we head into the Sabi Sand Game Reserve on our thrilling sunset game drive. The Sabi Sand Private Reserve is famous for offering outstanding leopard encounters and sightings of other wild animals at close range within Glamping tents.
We use open 4×4 safari vehicles on our game viewing drives in both Kruger Park and Sabi Sand Parks.
The sunset to evening game viewing drive is a great opportunity to spot some of the nocturnal wildlife found in the area. We arrive back at Camp Glamping tents after dark to be welcomed by a campfire in the outdoor boma area.
Enjoy some drinks as you sit back around the campfire before dinner. The evening meal is served in the boma beneath starry skies, or in the thatched dining area.
After dinner you can laze beside the glowing campfire and get an early night if you like, before our first full day exploring the African bush.
Day 2: Kruger Park Game Drives
We get up early morning to be met by the untamed bush and experience a golden and idyllic sunrise.
Morning coffee/tea is enjoyed in the dining area before we venture into Kruger National Park. The 4×4 game drives follow the best routes for wildlife sightings, improving your chances of sighting the Big Five and African wildlife of Kruger.
We head back to the Glamping Tents after our morning drive to satisfy our appetites with a tasty brunch.
Then there is time free, for you to put your feet up or enjoy some of the facilities and optional activities at Camp. You can swim in the pool, explore the campgrounds or relax on the viewing deck among indigenous trees during the heat of the day.
Between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm a light lunch is served in the dining area at camp and at around 2:30 pm we set off on another game drive in Kruger National Park.
Game viewing in open 4×4 vehicles allows you to experience the bush first-hand and get close to the incredible wildlife of Africa.
Experienced and knowledgeable guides are happy to answer questions on the game drives, ensuring that you gain as much insight into Kruger National Park and Sabi Sand as possible.
Returning to the safari camp pre-dinner drinks will be served around the campfire, followed by a well-prepared dinner. Relax under the canopy of stars, recounting the adventures of your day in the African bush, or head to your comfortable tented room for a good night’s rest.

Day 3: Sabi Sand Bush Walk and Game Drive
The early morning hours are ideal for game viewing, as this is when many animals are most active. You once again get a wake-up call to explore the African Bush.
After a refreshing tea or coffee, you set off on a morning game viewing walk in Sabi Sand Reserve with an armed ranger. Our guides provide you with insightful information about the incredible plants and animals of the area, while you explore Sabi Sand on foot. Walking through this Big Five game park is a truly unique African safari adventure!
The exhilarating guided walk takes you deep into the bush, where chance wildlife encounters include coming face-to-face with a lions, a herd of elephants and other Big 5 animals – an experience that is sure to get your adrenaline levels up!
The game walk in Sabi Sand is ideal for becoming aware of the finer details of the African bushveld and its variety of creatures, big and small. We spend time tracking wild animals and getting to know the wilderness more intimately than is possible on game viewing drives.
After our exciting game walk, we return to Camp for a delicious mid-morning breakfast.
Spend some time relaxing and resting at camp during the heat of the day. Lounge by the pool, take a leisurely stroll around the leafy camp, or try some of the optional activities available at Glamping tents.
A fresh lunch is served in the main dining area of the safari camp between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm. After lunch there is some more free time, before we embark on the 4:00 pm game drive. We usually get up close to the wildlife on our game drives, giving you excellent chances to take great photographs.
Returning to camp after sunset, we find chilled beverages waiting in the boma, where the campfire is already going. Share a juicy meal in the Boma under the stars, or in the dining area. Then sit back and take in the sounds of the untamed bush in the background.

Day 4: Kruger Park Game Drives
We set off on an exciting morning game drive in Kruger Park, after a refreshing cup of tea or coffee.
After sighting some of the abundant wildlife of Kruger and taking advantage of the great photographic opportunities on our game drive, we head back to the safari camp for brunch.
Breakfast is followed by free time to enjoy the facilities at the Luxury Tented Camp.
Then we have a light lunch in the camp’s dining area and prepare for our afternoon game drive in Kruger Park Glamping tents.
We are sure to enjoy a variety of interesting sightings on our game drive, as Kruger Park is home to a staggering array of species which include 336 different trees, over 500 species of birds, an impressive 147 mammals and 114 reptiles. This South African game park even hosts 34 species of amphibians and 49 fish species!

Day 5: Luxury Tented Camp to Johannesburg via Panorama Route
This Kruger Park and Sabi Sand Safari Adventure ends at about 5:30 pm.
You can be taken back to Johannesburg along Mpumalanga’s Panorama Route, travelling via the scenic highlights of Gods Window, Lisbon Falls and Graskop, in the Blyde River Canyon area.
You will arrive in Johannesburg between 17h00 PM and 18h00 PM. Please note that a local flight takes 2 hours for check in and 3 hours for international flights. Drop-off at Nelspruit Airport will be at 13h30 PM latest, please book flights accordingly.

It is important to note that this is not a private safari and more than likely there will be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.
The child policies vary from lodge to lodge. Some lodges do not accept children under 12 at all, while others gladly accept children but do not allow younger children on the open game drive vehicles for safety reasons. These lodges offer babysitting services at a nominal extra charge. Please be sure to enquire about this before making your reservation.
Airport pickup is between 7:00 – 8:30 from hotels and guest houses around OR Tambo – Please consult us about where to book pre- and post-accommodation. We also arrange transfers from and to Skukuza and KMIA airports, for more information please consult your Travel Experience Designer.
Guests flying out of OR Tambo Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 20h00 (domestic) or 21h00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Guests flying out of Nelspruit on the last day may, depending on their flight details, not have enough time to see the Panorama Route. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance at an extra charge.
