Itinerary for the Greater Kruger National Park safari in a Luxury Tented Lodge for 5 Days
Day 1 – Johannesburg to an Affordable Game Lodge for a Greater Kruger National Park safari (located in Balule Private Game Reserve)
Pick up for this Greater Kruger National Park safari is approximately at 09:30 am (latest) from OR Tambo International Airport or accommodation inside Johannesburg only. The drive to the Greater Kruger National Park is 6 to 7 hours in a comfortable air-conditioned mini-van. On arrival in the Lowveld guests can take pictures of the lovely backdrop.
The closest Airport is Hoedspruit (ZAR 500 discount is provided per person one-way on the Safari Price, when picked up from Hoedspruit Airport). Nelspruit Airport (MQP/KMIA) pick-up is at an additional cost, due to being a four hour drive. The lodge where guests will overnight on the first night is in the Hoedspruit area. It is an Affordable Game Lodge in Balule Private Game Reserve.
All chalets/rooms are equipped with an air-conditioner. During leisure, guests enjoy the peace and quiet. Other facilities during leisure can also be enjoyed, such as a swim in the pool, walk around in the gardens or enjoying drinks at the bar area. Before the traditional South African dinner (bush braai) at the Boma, a sunset drive will be undertaken.
Day 2 – Greater Kruger National Park safari Bush Walk and Game Drive
On the second day of this Greater Kruger National Park Safari, after an early coffee and light snacks, guests will be driven to the Oliphants River. Armed and qualified Game Rangers will be guiding a four hour bush walk. Visitors will be educated about smaller plants and spoor tracking as well as seeing signs of the Big 5. What bubbles up the excitement, is the anticipation of encountering these beautiful Big 5 animals on foot.
Before being transferred to the Luxury Tented Safari Lodge (located in Klaserie Private Game Reserve) within the Greater Kruger National Park, brunch will be served. Again, various leisure activities can be enjoyed at the Affordable Game Lodge on this Greater Kruger National Park Safari.
Next, a three hour game drive in the Motlala Game Reserve on this Greater Kruger National Park Safari, can be enjoyed.
After this amazing game drive dinner will be served and guests overnight in an air-conditioned luxury tented suite.
Day 3 – Full Day Orpen area of Kruger National Park Game Drive
This day is an exciting day! After breakfast, an Open-Sided Safari to the ORPEN area of The Kruger National Park will be enjoyed. Big 5 game viewing and bird watching can be experienced.
Excursions taking place away from the Greater Kruger National Park Safari Lodge, will require take-out meals, at guests own expense. Take-out (instead of sit down at a restaurant), is recommended for timing purposes. Eating out is seen as special occasion in Africa, making it very time consuming.
After the experience of this amazing game drive, guests return back to the Luxury Tented Lodge for dinner and to overnight.
Day 4 – Greater Kruger National Park safari to visit Moholoholo and Tshukudu Private Game Reserve
Visiting the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, (included in this Greater Kruger National Park Safari), is a highlight. It entails interaction with injured or orphaned animals as well as learning about conservation efforts.
A three hour game drive to the Tshukudu Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park will commence, after lunch. The chances are good of finding the Big 5.
After this exciting Big 5 drive guests will return back to the Luxury Tented Lodge to enjoy a tasty dinner and overnight in comfort.
Day 5 – Greater Kruger National Park safari Bush Walk and view Three Rondawels at the Blyde River Canyon (Panorama Route)
On this last day of the Safari and before driving back to Johannesburg, an armed Ranger will once again take guests on a one hour early morning Private Game Reserve Bush Walk. There will be searched for some wild animals and the Big 5 for the last time.
After enjoying breakfast at the Private Game Reserve, the awesome Three Rondawels at the Blyde River Canyon is visited (only en route to Johannesburg).
Drop off will be between 17:00 and 18:00 pm.

Airport pickup is between 7:00 – 9:30 am from hotels and guest houses around OR Tambo. Consult one of our travel specialists about where to book pre- and post-accommodation. We also arrange transfers from and to Nelspruit airport (at an additional charge).
Guests flying out of OR Tambo Airport on the last day should not book any flights earlier than 20h00 (domestic) or 21h00 (international) in order to have enough time for flight check-in. We recommend to overnight in Johannesburg before and after the safari. We will not be held responsible for reimbursements of any flight tickets, should the transfer arrive later than expected. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance at an extra charge.
