Accommodation when on a Affordable Kruger National Park Safari in Cottage Tent
Vehicles as part of the Kruger National Park Safari
Game viewing in the Kruger National Park is a wonderful experience especially in a safe but open 4 x 4 vehicle. You will also be safely transported from Johannesburg to the National Kruger Park and back in an air conditioned mini bus.
Day 1: From Johannesburg to Kruger National Park
We will fetch you early to start you African Wildlife Safari. In a few kilometers you will be out of the busy city and the landscape will start to change into mesmerizing landscapes. Past Witbank or eMalahleni to Nelspruit is a 6 hour drive. Kruger Park Tours will take you through the Highveld with its wide open spaces. We will stop for lunch at your own expense and end in Skukuza in the Kruger National Park.
Afrter settling into your Safari Cottage Tent, you will be taken on your first SANParks Sunset Drive. Other guest might join you and the game drivers might return after the gates close. All the excitement starts when you climb into the open 4 x 4 vehicle and the ranger explains the rules of game viewing. These guidelines are in place to enhance your game viewing experience and to ensure your safety.
(Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives)
After the exciting first African Wildlife Safari game viewing you will sit down to a perfect three-course dinner with complimentary wine. You can add own drinks purchased from the Kruger National Park Shop in Skukuza.
Day 2 & 3: Full day in the Kruger National Park
Large carnivores include lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and spotted hyena but there are also many smaller equally enticing species. These animals get up early in the morning and you will leave on a game drive early. But we will first serve you tea, coffee, muffin and fruit. The game drive takes 3 to 4 hours.
Once back in Skukuza, brunch will be served after which you will have time to relax around in Skukuza. Skukuza is a shortened word for Sikhukhuza in Tsonga language, meaning new broom. Skukuza was given by the local Tsonga people as a nickname for James Stevenson-Hamilton who was seen as ‘a new broom’, cleaning up poaching in the Kruger National Park. Activities and facilities in Skukuza are diverse and sophisticated like a little city but the animals and plants found both within the camp and in the surrounding areas are exceptional.
After an afternoon rest, you will again be awarded the opportunity to see African Wildlife on the afternoon Kruger National Park game drive. Experience the majestical Kruger Park from our specially adapted 4×4 Safari vehicles. On this open vehicle you have a great chance to spot some of the creatures in this world renowned reserve.
On your return you will have a three-course dinner, wine, camp fire, African Wildlife Safari stories and go to sleep in your Cottage Tent.
(Included: Breakfast & Dinner)
Day 4: Kruger Park to Gauteng
On your final day of your Kruger National Park Safari, you will start with last Safari game drive. This is when you will bid farewell to the Big 5. After breakfast we start the 6 hour return to Johannesburg. We recommend that you rather stay over on this night in Johannesburg to avoid missing your flight.
Panorama Route (Optional Excursion)
This offer is only available on day two of your Kruger Park Tours Safari, at no extra charge. This activity however replaces the activities for the day and only available if you are staying 3 days or longer. Kruger Park Tours has permanent accommodation in a camp in Skukuza. The open game drive vehicles are based here as well. Multiple rest camps are available on request.
Note this is not a private safari and thus it is very likely that other guests will join you on the game drives, air-conditioned mini bus as well as in the dining facility.
Also, note that the sunset game drive times are conducted by SANparks and their game rangers, in SANParks vehicles, subject to change and availability on the day. Again, most likely, other guests will join you on this game drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on SANParks open game drive vehicles.
Yet, children are welcome on Kruger Park Tours Safaris and a bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, specifically focused on kids. We do not offer babysitting and thus it is the responsibility of the parents to care for their children. Private family game drives can be arranged at an extra charge.
You are reminded not to book flights leaving from OR Tambo Airport on the last day earlier than 19h00 (domestic) or 20h00 (international). We highly recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg on the last day of your Safari. Kruger Park Tours will not be held responsible for reimbursements of missed flight tickets.
Guests flying out of Nelspruit on the last day, should note that depending on flight details, may not have enough time to see the Panorama Route. However, a special Panorama Route with private transport can be arranged, in advance and at an extra charge.
